A floating canvas frame in solid American maple, made to order for your exact canvas size and depth. The frame surrounds your piece on all four sides while a narrow reveal on the face lets a thin line of shadow show through. That's the effect that gives floating frames their name.

Built to the standard of heirloom furniture, not framing molding. Cut, joined, and finished by hand in eastern Pennsylvania.

What's Included

  • The maple frame in your selected size and depth
  • Steel mounting screws for attaching your canvas
  • D-rings and picture wire, pre-installed
  • Simple mounting instructions

Dimensions & Fit

  • Profile: 1/2" face by 2" depth. Slim from the front, substantial from the side.
  • Fits stretched canvases up to 36" × 48"
  • Recess depth: 1/8" to 2". Pick the depth that matches your canvas.
  • Reveal: 3/16" all around your canvas, so the shadow line stays even on every side.
  • Outside dimensions: canvas size plus 1 3/8" in width and height.
  • Don't see your size? Message me. Custom sizes are what most orders end up being anyway.

Materials & Craftsmanship

Maple. Creamy, close-grained, and one of the hardest domestic hardwoods. Bright and quiet, the wood to choose when you want the frame to disappear and let the art carry the visual weight.

Splined corners. Each corner is reinforced with a wood spline, cut into the miter by hand. It's a furniture maker's joint, and it's what tells you the frame was built, not stamped.

Hand-rubbed hard wax oil finish. No solvents, no varnish, no VOCs. Safe for a nursery or a kid's room.

Why You'll Love It

Made for your piece specifically. Every frame is milled for a specific canvas, not pulled from a shelf. Yours won't exist until you order it.

A frame that stays true. Maple holds its bright, even tone over the years, so the frame you unbox is the frame you'll still recognize a decade from now. Ideal for pieces where you want the wood to complement, not compete.

Backed by a promise, not a policy. If anything about the frame isn't right when it arrives, or you change your mind after living with it, email me. I'll make it right, whatever it takes. No time limit, no exceptions.

Easy Installation

Place the frame face up on a soft surface.
Set your stretched canvas inside the frame.
Use cards or paper shims to center it evenly.
Secure the canvas with the included screws.
Hang using the pre-installed D rings and wire.

Takes about five minutes. If you get stuck, email me.
